How To Make Memoji Without Face ID
It wasn’t always possible to make Memoji without Face ID, as Apple only made it available to those who owned an iPhone with the Face ID sensors. This means that if you owned the iPhone SE, iPhone 8, or older devices, you could not create Memoji. But that didn’t last for long, as Apple introduced Memoji Stickers. This introduced the ability to make Memoji without Face ID for the first time and is available across pretty much all of Apple’s devices. Here’s how you can make Memoji, regardless of which iPhone or iPad you are using:
- Open the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the Compose button in the top right corner to start a new message.
- Alternatively, you can also open an existing conversation.
- Tap the Memoji button in the toolbar above your keyboard.
- Swipe to the right.
- Tap the New Memoji button.
From here you will have the ability to go through the various options in order to make Memoji without Face ID. Here are the different styles that you can customize, edit, and adjust:

Needless to say that the process to make Memoji without Face ID can take quite a long time. Apple has come a long way from the inception of Memoji all the way back with iOS 12. The company continues to provide additional customization options and does its best to try and make sure everyone can feel included, even if you are still using something like an iPhone SE that doesn’t include built-in Face ID.
How To Edit Memoji
If you find that your Memoji needs a bit of a facelift, you don’t have to worry about needing to create another one from scratch. Here’s how you can edit your existing Memoji:
- Open the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the Compose button in the top right corner to start a new message.
- Alternatively, you can also open an existing conversation.
- Tap the Memoji button in the toolbar above your keyboard.
- Select the Memoji that you want to edit.
- Swipe to the right.
- Tap the three horizontal lines.
- When prompted, tap the Edit button.
- Go through the various areas to make the tweaks that you want.
- When you’re finished, tap the Done button in the top right corner.
Those edits are instantly applied, meaning that you can change up your hairstyle and then send a Memoji to your best friend letting them know that you just got a haircut. While the Memoji craze might not be as popular as it once was, we’re happy to see that Apple is sticking with it for the time being.
