Gone are the days when you needed to fiddle around with Smart Playlists within iTunes just to find out what your favorite songs of the past year were. Spotify and Apple Music (along with other streaming services) have started implementing a playlist that does the hard work for you. But unlike the alternatives, Apple Music Replay 2023 is already available for your viewing and listening pleasure.

What Is Apple Music Replay?
At its core, Apple Music Replay is a recap of your favorite songs that you have listened to over and over again. The service takes all of your playback data and rolls it into the perfect playlist to recap the year. In fact, this may be the best playlist to play during that New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day party.
If you think this is a new idea, you might want to think again, as Spotify does something similar with its year-end Wrapped playlist. But the benefit of Apple Music is that it doesn’t just stop keeping track of what you’re listening to when the year comes to a close.
With Replay, the list will constantly be updated, so that you can view your favorite songs throughout the year. This will also prove useful in providing various bits of data like how many hours you’ve listened to while keeping the best songs saved.
How To Find Apple Music Replay 2023
The steps to find Apple Music Replay 2023 are quite easy, as
- Make sure that you’re subscribed to Apple Music.
- Go to music.apple.com/us/replay
- Sign in with the same Apple ID that is subscribed to Apple Music.
- Click the Get started button.
It’s important to note that the playlist will only be generated once you have started listening to Apple Music for more than a song or two. If you haven’t used Apple Music on a consistent basis, then you’ll be provided with a screen that says “Start listening, and we’ll let you know once you’re eligible for Replay.”
Once you have it loaded up, you can add it to your playlists and then access it from any other Music client. Once it has been added, it will aptly be named “Replay 2023, Apple Music for YOUR NAME”. This makes it easy to find and gives you access to it all the time, even if you aren’t at a computer.
After being added, you can share it just like any other playlist that you have in your library. And if you really want to have some fun, you can take advantage of Sharing. With this, you can share your Replay playlist with a friend or two, and your Replay stats will update for them as it does for you.
How to Find Apple Music Replay 2023 on iPhone and iPad
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but you can also find Apple Music Replay 2023 on iPhone and iPad. The weirdest thing about this entire release is that in order to actually view the Replay 2023 information and playlist, you’ll be taken into a web portal where you’ll need to sign in with your Apple ID again. Nevertheless, here’s how you can find Apple Music Replay 2023 on iPhone and iPad:
- Open the Apple Music app.
- Tap on the Browse tab.
- At the top of the page, tap Replace and share your year in music.
- Tap the Jump In button.
- When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.
- In the Replay your year in music box, tap the Play Your Highlight Reel button.
- Scrolling down will reveal the following sections for More music that defined your year:
- Top Artists
- Top Songs
- Top Genres
- Top Playlists
- These milestones closed out the year
- At the bottom of the page, below the Replay the soundtrack of your year section, tap the Open in Apple Music button.
- If you want to save the Replay 2023 playlist, tap the Add button in the top right corner.
Admittedly, we wish Apple would clean up the experience and bring it more in line with the experience offered by Spotify and even YouTube Music. Both of those music streaming services offer all of the different bits of information right from within the app, as opposed to sending you to a different browser in order to access and save the Replay 2023 playlist.
How to Find Apple Music Replay Monthly
In February 2024, Apple rolled out a surprise for Apple Music fans, as the Apple Music Replay feature now provides monthly recaps. This is similar to the standard annual Replay functionality that we’ve come to know and love. However, you can now see an overview of what you’ve been listening to on a month-to-month basis.
As is the case with the annual version, the monthly recap lets you see your top songs, albums, artists, and how many minutes you spent listening. Apple also plans to archive these monthly recaps, allowing you to see what your vibe was in the past. Unfortunately, unlike the annual Apple Music Replay recap, you won’t find a monthly Replay playlist.
Nevertheless, here’s how you can access the all-new Apple Music Replay Monthly:
- Open your web browser of choice.
- Navigate to replay.music.apple.com/.
- Click the Sign In button in the top right corner.
- Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Click, or tap, the Jump In button.
- Select one of the months listed at the top of the screen.
Depending on when you are trying to view the monthly Apple Music Replay recap, you might be greeted with a message to “check back”. It doesn’t seem as though you can just keep up throughout the duration of the month, as the feature needs time to calculate and provide the data requested.
However, you should be able to view previous months. The only caveat is that if you only recently started using Apple Music, there might not be enough data for anything to actually show up. Nevertheless, it’s still a welcome and unexpected feature being made available for Apple Music subscribers.
If there’s one annoyance about the entire “Apple Music Replay” functionality, it’s that you can’t just see this in the app. It really doesn’t make sense why Apple would opt for a web-only view, when every iPhone, iPad, and Mac already has the Apple Music app installed. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now, you’ll have to stick to the browser if you want to see your Apple Music Replay recaps.
Conclusion
We LOVE to see Apple Music continuing to work to improve and provide a better experience for its subscribers. It has certainly come a long way from the initial release, and we are excited to see what is to arrive in the future.
